Oats contain a special soluble fibre component –beta glucan.​

This oat fibre is the primary reason for the multitude of health benefits oats provide. These are EU approved health claims that can be used in marketing your product when the amount of beta-glucan is high enough.

It is been proved that the beta-glucan (soluble fibre) in oats reduces blood cholesterol, when consumed enough. Beta-glucan prevents cholesterol-related particles from getting absorbed to the blood stream.

The claim:
Oat beta-glucan has been shown to lower/reduce blood cholesterol. High cholesterol is a risk factor in the development of coronary heart diseases. (Commission regulation (EU) No 1160/2011).
